Trump admin sues over California’s non-citizen data

The US Department of Justice filed a lawsuit against California, aiming to block the counting of ballots from approximately 20,000 individuals believed to be non-citizens. The lawsuit alleges that California's refusal to verify voters' citizenship facilitates unlawful voting, despite the state's assertion that it lacks sufficient evidence to support this claim. Legal experts widely consider the case unlikely to succeed, citing the lack of federal law preempting states' election authority and questioning the reliability of the data used.
