California contests ICE courthouse arrests in Trump lawsuit

California is challenging the practice of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arresting individuals for civil immigration violations at or near state courthouses, citing it as unconstitutional and disruptive to the justice system. In less than two years, the state has filed its 100th lawsuit against the Trump administration related to these arrests, which authorities argue hinder victims' and witnesses' participation in court proceedings. Despite new state laws protecting against such arrests, California's attorney general continues to sue the federal government, asserting these actions violate constitutional rights and interfere with state sovereignty.
