Russell Brand UK assault trial starts

British comedian-actor Russell Brand is set to face trial in London’s Southwark Crown Court on multiple sexual assault and rape charges, involving six women and allegedly spanning from the late 1990s to the late 2000s. He has pleaded not guilty to all seven charges, which include three counts of rape and three counts of sexual assault, with the trial expected to last up to 10 weeks. The allegations, publicly brought to light through a 2023 investigation by the Times of London and Channel 4, include accusations of misconduct, assault, and a relationship with a minor. Brand, once a prominent Hollywood figure and ex-husband of Katy Perry, has broadly denied the allegations and acknowledged past problematic behaviors in prior statements.
