Saudi national faces charges for planting recording device at OpenAI
A Saudi engineer employed by OpenAI was charged with secretly planting a sophisticated recording device in the company's California office to capture sensitive communications. The device, found in a conference room, was hidden in toilet paper, and the suspect used AI tools and chatbots to research how to install and conceal audio equipment. OpenAI has stated there is no evidence that proprietary data was accessed, and the individual has been dismissed; he faces up to five years in prison if convicted.
