Congress criticizes Trump's diesel deal with Putin

The article reports on President Donald Trump’s recent deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin to import Russian diesel into the U.S. to address high fuel prices ahead of the midterm elections. Critics from both parties argue the agreement violates U.S. laws banning Russian energy imports and undermines support for Ukraine, which is battling Russia’s military actions. Despite congressional approval of sanctions prohibiting Russian energy, Trump has continued to pursue plans that could provide Russia with financial support, prompting criticism for potentially aiding Putin and contradicting U.S. legislation.
