Gloucestershire Council Saddened by M5 Project Cancellation
The government has cancelled plans for a new motorway junction south of Tewkesbury on the M5, a project valued at up to £930 million aimed at supporting housing and employment growth. Gloucestershire County Council and Tewkesbury Borough Council officials condemned the decision, stating it hampers infrastructure development needed for future housing and economic opportunities. The government cited existing commitments to road repairs and rail infrastructure, but critics argue the cancellation undermines regional growth plans.
