MLB plans schedule revert with postseason twist

Major League Baseball owners have proposed a 154-game season starting in 2029, reducing the traditional 162 games and allowing for player health benefits and new broadcasting opportunities. They also suggested making the best-of-seven format for the Division Series and giving the top seeds the ability to select their opponents, aiming to enhance rivalries and fan engagement. The proposal includes a salary cap opposed by players, with a lockout anticipated if no agreements are reached before the current collective bargaining agreement expires.
