New NYS law targets workplace opioid overdoses

Starting December 13, workplaces on Long Island that are privately operated, such as shops and restaurants, will be required to stock naloxone, an opioid overdose reversal medication. The new law mandates inclusion of opioid antagonists in first-aid supplies, with regulations to determine appropriate quantities based on workplace size and staffing, and requires volunteer training on administration. This measure aims to combat the ongoing opioid overdose epidemic by ensuring rapid access to life-saving treatment in workplace emergencies.
