Gehry's new concert hall emerging in LA
A new $337-million concert hall, part of an expansion for the Colburn School of Performing Arts in downtown Los Angeles, is nearing completion with an opening scheduled for September. Designed by Frank Gehry, the 1,000-seat Kohl Hall features an in-the-round layout, an orchestra pit, and a stage capable of hosting large orchestral, opera, and dance performances. The hall will serve as home to the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, featuring premieres by notable film composers, and will be used over 200 times annually to host a variety of performances and events.
