Judge delays Trump’s attempt to remove Seattle US attorney
A federal judge in Washington State ruled that a U.S. president cannot fire court-appointed U.S. attorneys, affirming that only Senate-confirmed attorneys can be removed. The case involved Roger Rogoff, who was appointed by a federal court in Seattle but was later blocked from being dismissed while the ruling is in effect. The Justice Department plans to appeal, marking a significant legal dispute over presidential removal powers and judicial authority over U.S. attorneys.
